  • The O-ring is a circular-shaped annular rubber sealing ring. Due to its circular cross-section, it is called an O-ring. It is mainly used to prevent the leakage of liquid and gas media when mechanical components are in a static state. In some cases, the O-ring can also be used as a dynamic sealing element for reciprocating motion of shafts and low-speed rotation. Depending on different conditions, different materials can be selected to match it. It is a widely used component in hydraulic and pneumatic transmission systems.

When choosing an O-ring, it is advisable to select a larger cross-sectional one. Under the same gap condition, the volume of the O-ring that is pushed into the gap should be less than its maximum allowable value.
For different types of fixed or moving seal applications, the O-ring provides designers with an effective and economical sealing element. The O-ring is a bidirectional sealing element. The initial compression in the radial or axial direction during installation gives the O-ring its own initial sealing capability. The sealing force generated by the system pressure combines with the initial sealing force to form the total sealing force, which increases as the system pressure rises. The O-ring shows a prominent role in static sealing applications. However, in appropriate dynamic applications, the O-ring is also commonly used, but it is limited by the speed and pressure at the sealing point.
Technical data on pressure of Suzhou rubber products: Speed:
The reciprocating speed in static conditions can reach 0.5 m/s.
With a retaining ring, the maximum pressure can reach 40 MPa.
Without a retaining ring, the maximum pressure can reach 20 MPa.
The maximum rotational speed can reach 2.0 m/s.
    Medium and temperature:
With a special retaining ring, the maximum pressure can reach 200 MPa.
    Large compression amount:
With a retaining ring, the high-pressure dynamic seal: the diameter of the O-ring is 30%.
Without a retaining ring, the reciprocating motion can reach a high pressure of 5 MPa for static seal: the diameter of the O-ring is 20%.
